A great new job: FarmVille Freelancer

As some of you might know, I work in the IT sector. And by now I'm pretty used to Java freelancers, Oracle freelancers, DB2 freelancers, Rational freelancers, Microsoft freelancers, Siebel freelancers, etc… but… it seems a new freelance category is on the rise!

I really had to smile when I found this e-mail in my inbox from David Gohberg, just because his proposition is a viral meme which I am sure you will enjoy (and which I will bring to party's) :

image98 A great new job: FarmVille FreelancerHello, Im David, and I can arrange almost any amount of coins or any item in FarmVille.

I do not use any hacks or cheats, just my precious working time.

Given access to one's farm, I can add him millions to the coin balance, grant him items, villas, unique items, mystery boxes etc.

because I do not use any hacking methods, my only requirement is that a client must have the level needed for the item, hence I cannot get villa for someone's whose level 10. money production is, of course, does not hold any limits.

I know this shouts scam, but believe me, I have no interest in Facebook accounts.

I'm aware this bares an issue of distrust, so out of good courtesy, I'm willing to sign a non disclosure agreement as part of the contract.

Isn't this great? If you have the need, then David is the person to contact. As far as I can read (and know), this is in line with the Zynga TOC.

Zynga Hits 100 Million Unique Visitors Per Month

I just read this posting by Lisa: http://blog.zynga.com/2009/11/zynga-hits-100-million-unique-visitors-per-month.html

SAN FRANCISCO – Nov. 23, 2009 – Zynga (www.zynga.com), the largest developer of social games, today announced that more than 100 million unique users play its games every month, making it the largest online game destination. The company has 200 million monthly active users across all games, with one million users purchasing virtual goods per month. Zynga's newest games, Café World and FishVille, have contributed to the company's growth. Café World, launched in September, has surpassed 9 million daily active users, while FishVille has crossed 6 million daily active users since its launch earlier this month. Zynga's popular game FarmVille is the largest social game with over 65 million virtual farmers, 26 million of which play the game every day. These farmers recently contributed more than $700,000 for the welfare of children in Haiti. The company also launched FarmVille.com a new web site that uses Facebook Connect integration to bring the popular game to a standalone portal. The new site enhances the game play experience for current FarmVille players who can tend to their same Facebook farms and introduces new players to the most popular social game online. FarmVille players add to their farms by gaining game points and purchasing virtual goods. Every month, more than one million users purchase virtual goods in Zynga's games, from tractors and pets to café decorations and lobster tanks. Direct user purchases account for approximately 90 percent of Zynga's revenues. "Our games continue to delight and connect players as they immerse themselves in their worlds of farming, fishing or running a restaurant," said Mark Pincus, CEO and founder of Zynga. "With the popularity of virtual goods today, we are in the early stages of a new economy that could grow and shape the future of the Web."

These people are writing game and Internet business history here.

It feels good to come home and see that 215 neighbors helped out in the meanwhile :) But 215 others? Did each one of them do only 1 field?

FarmVille Theme Performed by Steve Kirk

image280 FarmVille Theme Performed by Steve Kirk Steve Kirk (http://www.stevekirkpop.com , http://www.myspace.com/stevekirkpop), the composer of the theme from the ultra-popular Zynga/Facebook game FarmVille, performs the theme at the FarmVille party on October 8th 2009.

Steve Kirk is a composer, arranger, guitarist and singer. Throughout his work, encompassing everything from multimedia to modern chamber music, he attempts to redefine pop music beyond the confines of contemporary restriction into a world where the odd and beautiful coalesce, acoustic and electric coexist and nothing is too far-fetched.

Born in San Diego, California, Steve grew up with music as the focus of his life from early childhood. Later moves to Seattle and Los Angeles gave him the opportunity to study with a variety of teachers. And there were bands. Lots of 'em. Prog rock, hard rock, jazz, alternative, swing. The one that really changed it all was Clubfoot Orchestra, the San Francisco-based ensemble that set the standard for live music/original scores performed with classic silent film. Titles like Sherlock, Jr, Nosferatu and Pandora's Box. Steve not only played with, he consistently composed for Clubfoot, culminating in a mid-nineties stint writing and recording all the incidental music for a Saturday morning cartoon series, The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat. It's still running on television in Europe and a DVD of the first season was released in 2002.

image281 FarmVille Theme Performed by Steve Kirk image282 FarmVille Theme Performed by Steve Kirk More recently Steve composed and recorded the music for five downloadable PC video games: Zodiac, Realms of Gold, Word Spiral, Four Houses and Flying Leo, all developed by Beep Industries. Before that, Steve was the composer on a multimedia project that required that he compose, arrange, prepare scores, individual parts, and finally mix and master over three hours of music for a wonderfully creative game called Voodoo Vince (developed by Beep Industries for Microsoft Games on the Xbox platform) within a period of only six months. The original soundtrack audio CD is available in the music section at Amazon.com, and has received rave reviews.
In 2005, Steve composed and recorded background score music and pop songs for several independent feature image283 FarmVille Theme Performed by Steve Kirk films- “Road” written and directed by Leslie McCleave, “Hoimage284 FarmVille Theme Performed by Steve Kirk w to Live With a Vegan Without Killing Them” and “Dulhan, Made in the USA” all of which have enjoyed critical acclaim at their respective film festival debuts. During breaks in his music scoring schedule he arranged, recorded and produced album projects for singers Keady Phelan and Jarrett Fenlon, and recently finished recording, producing and playing on the reunion album of Bay Area para-punk notables, the Symptoms.

image285 FarmVille Theme Performed by Steve Kirk Steve has taught guitar and composition privately for years and since 2006 has been teaching music at Blue Bear School of American Music and Community Music Center, both based in San Francisco, where his instructional skills are nicely balanced between private instruction, group classes and band workshops.

A resident of San Francisco for almost 26 years, Steve has built a life that allows him to divide his time between composing, recording, teaching and live performance.
