I never wrote a piece on this before since I thought it was straightforward. But I notice especially starting FarmVille players still struggling with this question, so I will devote 1 post on it. If you are an experienced FarmVille player you can skip this post, it is just for new players.
Introduction to some concepts:
- In FarmVille you gain XP (experience points) for several actions such as plowing land, buying objects or achieving ribbons. The same as in other games but here you only get it for specific actions and not for e.g. selling items.
- This XP directly relates to your Experience Level. The more XP you gather the higher your Experience Level (see this table for all levels and amount of XP you need). There are 70 levels with names and after that you are experienced enough to just concentrate on the XP amount meaning: your XP will still go up but your level will stay at level 70.
approach 1: Concentrating on raw XP (not good!)
So… you might think it is simple: just concentrate on the seeds that deliver the highest XP and you will level up the most quickly. When you take this approach you can take a look at e.g. the table that shows the highest XP per seed. You will see that (currently) Peas deliver the highest XP (it includes the 1 XP you get for plowing): 4 XP. (and 5XP when fertilized)
This is probably your thought when you are starting with FarmVille. However it is of course not a good approach since you should also take into account the amount of time. Consider this exaggerated example: one seed can deliver you 5 XP within 5 days but another seed could deliver you 4 XP in 10 minutes… So within the same time frame you could get much more XP. Therefore:
approach 2: Concentrating on XP/Hour (also not good!)
So you think.. okay lets then look at the table of XP per hour for seeds and you will find that the special limited seeds and the "berries" mostly deliver you the highest XP per hour (currently but always check the tables for the up-to-date information, this blogposting will be old in some time and things could have changed):
So now you can get 0.5 XP per hour for the berries. If you multiply that with the amount of squares of land you have you will find the amount of XP you generate per hour. However, this is still not the best approach to level up the most quickly.
approach 3: Concentrating on Coins to XP conversion (the right answer)
Within FarmVille you gain XP when you buy stuff. So what if you would buy stuff and then immediately delete it, just for the amount of XP you gain? What then would give you the highest XP? For that you can take a look at the best coins to XP conversion table:
And you will see that Soybeans (so plowing, seeding and then immediately delete them) give you a conversion ratio of 0.1 XP per Coin. In other words: divide the amount of coins you have by 10 and you will find the amount of XP you can rise this very moment.
So the trick within FarmVille is not to gather the most XP but to gather the most coins, if you do that you can convert your coins to XP by coins to XP conversion and you will level up the fastest.
So now you understand to concentrate on coins and not XP. So the big question is: what gives you the most amount of coins in the shortest amount of time. For that take a look at the best profit per hour overall table:
And you see that (currently, always check the latest tables) Calfs give you the most coins per hour and the good thing is: they are readily available on your Facebook Feed so you can also get a lot of them and they don't cost you anything.
The compare the 2 approaches:
| Highest XP/Hour for 1 Square |
Coins to XP per Hour for 1 Square |
| Strawberries: 0.5 XP per Hour |
Calf to Soybeans: 5.65 XP per hour |
conclusion: focus on coins not XP
example:
- 16 Calfs deliver 55.65 Coins per Hour
- If you have 23x24 full of calfs (leaving some room for other stuff like your avatar and some room for the conversion) you get 30.718 coins per hour and thus 706532 coins per FarmVille day (which is 23 hours).
- These 706532 coins can be converted to XP via Soybeans conversion for an amount of 70.653 XP.
- So… (in theory) you can gain 70.653 XP per day by using this approach. Of course you gain even more XP by helping neighbors and achieving ribbons in the meanwhile. That amount of XP brings you to level 33 in one day and 70.000 more brings you to level 40 in two days in the most ideal circumstances. However it will take you probably somewhat more time realistically seen because you also have another non-FarmVille life and you soon will get tired of all the clicking. This is however the approach to follow.
I used this approach to bring me to level 34 pretty quickly (to buy me a villa) but after that (probably like most players) "leveling up" lost its meaning so I am now just playing for other things but not longer "leveling" or gaining "XP Fast". i think that is what keeps players busy up until level 34. At the lower levels you can gain levels quickly at the higher levels you need 10.000 XP per level. Which is, in coins not that hard since that is only 100.000 Farm Coins. I am not at level 62 and basically could click like mad and be level 70 by using 800.000 Farm Coins this week. However… just because it is possible I think it is not really interesting to do.
Then again… if you really want to: this approach will bring you to level 70 in no time without using any hacks or cheats.

Unfortunately I see a lot of people jumping to level 70 in absolutely no time, let's say 10 minutes. I did some surfing and found the exploit in the FarmVille forums because it's sort of booming in front of my eyes.
Since it is now "running around like a virus":
I tried it (sorry, had to try if it works) and I could actually jump 2 levels up and i guess 10 minutes more and I would be on level 70. But I stopped obviously because what is the point of playing a game this way. I think it takes away a lot of the fun. It is also not allowed to use these kind of exploits. obviously.
And it is even worse: (making this probably the biggest exploit until now) : people are creating dozens of fake FarmVille accounts, level up to level 70 in a few minutes and then buy with their FV gained from the leveling all the FV items like the mystery box contents etc… and send this to themselves or others.
I think this comes close to stealing (since FV does translate to real money), so I would advise anyone not to do this.
And even much worse: people receiving mystery boxes etc… do not even know about the fraud and become partners in the exploit without knowing.
So I hope the developers fix this and look in to the logs for everyone who jumped to level 70 in let's say less than a day or even less than an hour and set them back. I think also a high level of people sending mystery boxes around in huge volumes is also suspect.
I followed the same procedure and pm-ed Channel Zero the exploit (#5) so I hope that is enough to set this one to priority super high.
And remember folks: the game is beta so it does not mean you have to destroy the game or cheat the game. We are all beta testers right now that is what you signed up for and that has a certain responsibility. If you find a bug just post it in the forums and if you find something serious just pm the dev's I know you are targeted on your level 70 and on the FV items but in this way you are destroying the community's game experience.
If you see anyone doing this then well.. ask him to stop.
Just consider it like this: if you find a bug in you local bank's software transaction software then you could do lots of nasty things, you could also however report it to to the bank who can then fix the problem. And in this case: we do play a beta game which means that has a responsibility from you as player.
And from another point of view: suppose you were playing a game and suddenly you would take all game pieces that were laying in the box outside of the game and put them on the board and declared them as yours. What would your fellow players say? Understand?
