Let’s build a community FarmVille Knowledge Base Together!

I've starting working on the idea of creating a wiki like environment on farmvillechicken.com But I wanted something cooler.

So I'm planning to give EACH FarmVille object a weblog. An example can be seen on http://goat.farmvillechicken.com (just go there to check it out).

Editors can just double-click a blogposting and start editing the content: change the texts and also add images, etc… (of course you also use the backend for this or even Windows Live Writer).

In the end there will be much more information in there then on a "wiki". Since in this weblog-wiki system you can also add personal blogpostings AND people can still comment on all those blogpostings (just scroll down on goat.farmvillechicken.com to see other blogpostings)

So Editors can also ADD blog postings. Which means… if you have some super cool image of "a goat" on your farm and have that to share… simply add a blogpost to the goat.farmvillechicken.com blog! (or to whatever animal, tree, building, etc..) or… if you have some nice tips about it … you also add it. Or a video. Or … well… whatever comes to mind.

So… of course I don't want anyone to edit all blogs since that would enable spammers to really destroy all the content (once in a while they appear). So I've created a group "Editors".

This is a restricted group. If you have interest to be part of this NEW FarmVille knowledge building community / weblog network then just request membership of this group. I will post new updates on there.

As soon as you are a member of this group, the weblogs in this network that you visit and may edit will appear in your top menu, for instance for the goat:

FAQ:

1. For now I have only setup goat and saanens-goat for beta testing purposes to see how it works and gather feedback on stuff that SHOULD be on these blogs or uhm… should not be on these weblogs.

2. For now all users can edit the posts, pages, comments but not yet the sidebar. I'm planning to have 1 user per object "administrator / owner" who then may edit the sidebar content (which is more about the structure and e.g. "all goats list") but I'm still thinking about this.

3. For general topics such as "Mastership", "Co-op" some more specific weblogs will follow.

4. The very latest content is not yet automatically present in a blog format. I'm writing code to make that happen but that will be in a later phase.

5. If your top-menu contains way to much animals/buildings/etc… blogs then simply click the top "My Blogs" to go to an overview screen.

6. This knowledge base will contain some duplicate information that is now in the "almanac", which does not matter. There will simply be 2 Almanacs. One maintained by me only and one by the community. Nice to crosscheck.

So if you are interested to join in this pre-stage beta phase then request membership of the Editors group.

Unreleased Fertilizer Plane

Lots of people are blogging about these unreleased items nowadays. Until now I always have kept them hidden in the database and never blogged them or published in the Almanac. What do you think should I change my Almanac to display them also?

FarmVille on MSN bye bye Facebook FarmVille?

image39 FarmVille on MSN bye bye Facebook FarmVille? I used to play Risk on Microsoft's Zone back in 1998-1999. I played hundreds of games on there until Risk was abandoned (and I later started doing Attack) but it seems… I am back on the old spot :) For all those old Zone players whom I met on Attack: we're back :)

As of today FarmVille is on MSN: http://zone.msn.com/en/farmville/farmville.aspx - what's next the X-Box? That would totally be cool. Finally all my Achievements would be in one place :)

However…. MSN presented me with a not so nice notice (I am running Firefox): Important Note: Your browser or operating system does not meet the minimum requirements to play on MSN Games. You may be able to download games for offline play; however, the online games can be played only with Internet Explorer version 7 or later, and Windows XP or later.

Luckily FarmVille is just a sort of i-frame so that should work always (I hope).

The confusing thing is… the feed underneath connects to Facebook, the player profiles are made on Facebook but the popup of clicking on rewards leads you to a popup in MSN….

On the Zynga blog we read:

Overall best profit animals, seeds or trees in FarmVille

I have added another report that shows the overall best profit for animals, seeds and trees in FarmVille when we do not take the ROI into account, which means that effectively for animals and trees the revenue is equal to the profit. It shows currently 85 different values. And I think by now you can guess the 4 animals who are on number 1. So yes plant your 24x24 full of Calfs and there is no better way to earn money quickly besides cheating or hacking your way into the servers of Zynga.

So you have the choice to either plant a square of wheat or put 16 calfs on it which make you over 55 times as much as money.

p.s. this is the first report where I use the new "shared" numbering and in time this will propagate to other reports where such numbering is needed.

What to do if you lose your FarmVille Facebook Feed

Lost your FarmVille Feed? Besides jumping directly to this filter do this:

	Click on NEWS FEED (left)
	Click on "View Live Feed!" (at the top)
	Now click on at least one of the bonuses underneath a FarmVille item "get a bonus from them" and then press back in your browser. (or rightclick, open in new tab, close the tab and then refresh the main screen)
